MEET THE EDITOR

Meet Jessica Hinckle. Also known as, the red-head behind the curtain.

After being introduced to the Atlanta stand-up comedy scene in January of 2010, Jessica took an active interest in the art of stand-up comedy and in it’s boom here in Atlanta by signing on to be a contributing writer for Atlanta Stands Up, then ran by ASU creator and comedian Justin Morgan.

By August 2010, the reigns had been handed over to Jessica and since then ASU has undergone three website changes, finally finding a permanent home here on WordPress with a revamped purpose. It is her unwavering belief that comedy in this town is not measured in it’s notoriety and venues, but by each individual and comedian who puts in the heart and work to devour stage time, produce shows, and support the art of stand-up comedy. The scene’s growth, the passion and laughter resonating within it, and the quality of talent displayed on stage, back stage, and in promotion is what has other scene’s taking notice. All of which would be impossible without individualized efforts combining to make Atlanta comedy a beacon for what the art of stand-up comedy really is, putting it on display for our audiences to enjoy, take note of, and more importantly, become involved in.

Atlanta Stands Up purpose is to draw attention not to the comedy scene as a whole, or to it’s major headlines and visiting headlining acts, but to these individualized efforts of local comedians, producers, and promoters who work their asses off, at times for no compensation, just because they love it that fucking much.

Come out to a show, shake a few hands, and see for yourself.

Jessica Hinckle produces comedy shows monthly at The Masquerade, regularly designs comedy show posters via her graphic design concept REDesigns, and owns/operates the under construction True Color Comedy booking agency, in addition to her work as Editor of Atlanta Stands Up.
